I just want to let everyone know that today’s comic actually happened to me on Tuesday night. Apparently I need to brush up on my British slang words before I play my next game of Scrabble.

Outside of that, I really want to take the time to let you all know how much I hate the MTA. For all of you outside of the New York area, that’s the Metropolitan Transit Authority, the group of men and women whose sworn duty it is to ensure that the denizens of this shithole city make it to work on time, or meet up with friends, or arrive at the airport to get the hell out of here, etc.

This morning was particularly awesome. I checked the MTA website to ensure that the trains were all running on time. They were, allegedly.

I get to my station to find out that no trains were running to Manhattan, and I would have the cross the platform and head in the opposite direction, and transfer to a Manhattan bound train down the line.

I do just that. As the train doors opened at Astoria Blv, the conductor stated that the Manhattan train would arrive at the platform shortly.

Fifteen minutes later the train arrives across the other platform, and suddenly two hundred people are sprinting for the stairs to run around the entire station to get on that trains. It takes ten minutes for everyone to get on board, just enough time for another train to have arrived, so we waited for all those passengers to traverse the station on to the new train with us.

And then, twenty minutes after arriving at Astoria, the train moved, and PROCEEDED TO MAKE FUCKING LOCAL STOPS ALL THE WAY TO MANHATTAN DESPITE THE FACT THAT WE WERE TOLD THERE WOULD BE NO MANHATTAN BOUND TRAINS AT MY STATION.

Once I finally got to work I attempted to file a complaint on the MTA website, but the feedback page wasn’t loading… I guess everyone and their dog was trying to get a refund or something. So, one last time; Fuck you MTA.
