Putting the strip up a day before the usual update, I’m super tired cause I was up at 4a.m. today, and I wanna make sure it’s up before I pass out.

So… just in case you don’t know what I’m referencing, the new Mortal Kombat game appears to have a massive list of banned words coded into the software. Like, a lot. Like, I’ve never heard what most of these things are.

And I don’t wanna google image search any of it to find out.

Also, if you happen to never have heard any George Carlin routines, I highly recommend you check him out. While I don’t think young kids should listen to him, Carlin was a staple of my childhood and a real big influence on my humor. He died a few years back, but his comedy will always live on for me.

Also also, this is the 100TH STRIP OF CORPSE RUN!!! Can you believe it? Holy crap! Where did the time go? It’s almost been a year since the strip started, and I’ve gotta say that so far it’s led me to meet some great people and see a side of the internet I never had before. Also, haters. A lot of haters, but that’s cool cause I love them too!

So, the NFL Draft happened this weekend, and I’ve gotta say that for the most part I’m pretty thrilled with the Jets’ haul this year. Unfortunately (or fortunately for you Dolphins fans out there) this draft anecdote is not about the Jets.

Hard to believe, I know.

Last year the day of the draft I wore a jersey, hat, etc. to the animation lab. In a normal school, this is not an unusual occurrence. In an art school, “What the fuck is football?” gets asked a lot. Anyhoo, a friend asked me what I was all dressed up for, and I told him that it was the day that NFL teams select college players to join the pros.

He didn’t quite understand, so I explained like this, “Ok, so… Matt… You’re from Detroit. This year (2010) the Lions have the second overall pick of the college players. Once St. Louis picks, you guys get to take a player.”

He responded, horrified, “Wait, so whoever we pick has to play for the Lions?”

“Yes.”

“But, but don’t they suck? How long does he have to play for them?

“The average first rounder has a 5 or 6 year contract, but an average NFL career last about three seasons.”

You mean that this poor kid might have to play his entire career in DETROIT?”

Since this guy was from Detroit, I found it really funny that he would be mortified if someone had to play there, ever for millions of dollars.

Finally, shoutout to Stephanie J, I got your message.
