Corpse Run 109: Steve Jobbed Me
UPDATE 2:
So the stellar tech support I mentioned in the original newspost came through for me; the drive will be replaced. Also, I’ve been getting messages about how I managed to salvage what I could of the comic before the failure, an excellent question. I had numerous boot issues when I first sat down to draw, so I figured that I’d start exporting the WIP to an external hard drive while working on it just in case. Turns out that was a good idea. Additionally, I’m getting messages that Apple doesn’t make the hard drives, so I shouldn’t blame them. I’m not sure if they’re Apple fanboys or something, but to them I say that a company is responsible for the products they sell, whether or not they had originally manufactured them.
Finally, I’ll be heading to upstate New York for the next couple of days for a landscaping project. The place has no cell service, and I’m pretty sure that the particular location currently does not have internet access. So, if nothing appears in Kat’s Korner over the next few days, that’ll be why. Hopefully I can get something up, though.
Wish me luck!
End Update 2
UPDATE: So I was pretty tired after last night and wanted to get to bed, so the entire story of the… computer adventure was never posted. Two nights ago (Tuesday night) my computer would not boot, showing a flasing ? inside a folder on a blank white screen. Upon researching this, I found that while it could indicate a failing hard drive, often times unplugging the mouse and keyboard and rebooting would relieve the problem. That’s what I’m doing in the strip above.
Now, I would have been more or less content with having to unplug some stuff before each boot (annoying as it would be). Unfortunately, the computer had some other plans on Wednesday. The hard drive went ka-put, and when running off the boot disk, the drive wasn’t even showing in the System Profiler, and that’s when I gave Apple a call.
End Update!

…
There’s really not much more that I can say now that hasn’t been said above. About this time yesterday, I started to notice that my computer was acting funny and freezing up occasionally. Being the paranoid guy that I am, I did a little reasearch online and found that the symptoms I was experiencing were often a good indication of a failing hard drive.
I immediately backed up all my comic files to an external drive. God forbid I didn’t. Anywho, I was ticked off enough about the situation that I wanted to poke some fun at Apple with today’s strip. Apparently my computer got wind of what I was doing and decided to fatally crash while I was making the strip about how shit it was.
You just can’t make this stuff up.
I still intend to have content up on the site as per normal, I’m just not sure how I’m going to do it just yet. Bear with me, people! Hopefully this will be solved quickly, and considering the stellar customer service I just had over the phone, I think it might be.
But then again, this isn’t the first time I’ve had trouble with Apple.
