Very rarely do I go from super hyped on something to super bummed in less than a minute, but the Pokemon: Let’s Go games are one of these situations.

A more or less remake of Red and Blue for the switch?  HECK YEAH I’M GONNA BUY THAT.

…but then I hear that you can’t use the pro controller with the game.

That’s weird, I guess, but I suppose I can just use the joycons in the little controller grip-oh you can’t do that either, it’s motion controls with the joycons or a special pokeball controller that you’d have to buy separately if you want that.

I took a stroll to the Switch subreddit, but that was a bit silly.  Plenty of folks were complaining about the control issue, but plenty more seemed to shill for Pokemon and defend the decision.

Stranger still was the fact that the fanboys then proclaimed, “if you really want regular controls, you can play with the joycons in handheld mode!” and presumably sat back, arms crossed and smirking as if they just blew my mind so hard it’d be described as me getting “TOTALLY DESTROYED/WRECKED” in a YouTube video title.

I’ll just have to mirror comic Alex here and say IF YOU ALREADY IMPLEMENTED A TRADITIONAL CONTROL SCHEME FOR HANDHELD MODE WHY CAN’T YOU USE THE PRO CONTROLLER FOR THAT?

Totally lame on GameFreak’s part.  I would play it in handheld mode, but then I couldn’t stream it, so… that kind of sucks.  Removing functionality stinks, especially when it’s foundational, basic stuff.

Also, what’s up with the Nintendo Switch subreddit defending every little thing even if it’s absolutely stupid?

I felt a little awkward using the word “fanboys” a moment ago since I didn’t really think that was something that existed nowadays, but here we are I guess.

Whyyyyy?
