Corpse Run 931: Grinding
There have been many, many, many, many dead weak Pokemon through my Sword and Shield adventure.
I feel like this could be a loading screen for the game.

I’ve never played a Pokemon game in my life, and my exposure to to the media is limited, so I have this question: Do Pokemon ever actually *die* in battles? Like, regularly, not just one off “oh this was a tragedy strictly injected for the plot that never ever happens normally”. Or is this just a case of sanitizing the media for western audiences?
No, they “faint.” So, more like a boxer going down for the count or something like that. In fact, pokemon only ever die in the story as part of history. The darkest anything has gotten in the series is the very first games (and the GBA remakes) where there’s the literal ghost of a Marowak who was murdered by Team Rocket. Other than that and a few really specific background events, no, pokemon are functionally immortal.
Nope, every Pokemon just faints after losing a battle. Aside from a graveyard area that is usually in every region, death isn’t really brought up in the franchise, and even then NPC’s dialogue suggests that every Pokemon buried in those locations just died of normal causes. I wouldn’t saying it’s to “sanitize” the media for Western audiences; it is targeted towards kids after all.
Can we just talk about the fact that I just beat Hop’s water core team with my all ground bois? I even put my starter up for this one, and I was like… Really?
