Corpse Run 1,015: Ding dong
Don’t get me wrong, I’m still concerned that Trump and company are going to try some shenanigans to undermine democracy…
…but for the moment I’ll take a day or two to celebrate that his dumb, racist, authoritarian ass was voted out.
I’ve also got some Gatorade Zero powders and they’re pretty ok. I don’t think I’m ever going to have the perfect ratio of water to powder so it doesn’t really taste as good as the store bought but hey… it’s still quarantine season and I’ve been cooped up since March so different food/drink options are nice!
Hell yeah
Going to drop a comment here since some dude tried leaving a comment with links in support of Trump and claiming voter fraud.
If you’re into Trump, I get it, I do, really… I get that you’re a fucking moron. There isn’t any wiggle room here. If my saying that causes me to lose your readership then so be it.
Edit
Got a new comment in apparently claiming that I don’t care about voter fraud. To this person I say if there’s evidence of fraud, surely Trump and Co can produce evidence. He’s had court challenges thrown out already in Michigan, Nevada, and Georgia, and a federal judge dismissed a lawsuit to stop vote counting in Philadelphia. I do care about voter fraud, when it happens. Trump and his supporters have produced no evidence, they’ve just thrown a temper tantrum.
A good source for debunking a lot of that stuff is: https://twitter.com/Ike_Saul/status/1324435797374808066
Just like the temper tantrum that was thrown when he was elected? The one that carried on for four years? The one where russian collusion/interference (none of which was ever found to be true) was claimed for his victory? I honestly don’t think that you *do* get it. Dude, you can hate Trump all you want, and that’s fine, it’s a free country, but loudly stating that seventy million people are ‘fucking morons’ just announces your ignorance and hatred as loudly as those you try to paint as monsters while utterly ignoring their disenfranchisement at the laughable and despicable state of American politics. Seventy million people who are gay, straight, bi, trans, black, white, brown, asian, old, young, middle aged, doctors, lawyers, fast food workers, military members, garbage collectors, webcomic artists, healthy, differently abled, progressive, liberal, moderate, centrist, conservative, democrat, republican, libertarian, green, independent.. The list goes on.
You hate them solely based on your own opinion that they’re ‘fucking morons’, because they voted for someone you don’t like, and nothing else.
Not that you’re going to read this whole thing, or even a few sentences before you delete it, but I’m not quitting this comic because you dislike trump or voted for Biden, I’m quitting this comic because you represent the very kind of ignorant, intolerant, closeminded, blind hatred that you should be against. Maybe take some of the advice of President-Elect Biden, “It’s time to put away the harsh rhetoric. To lower the temperature. To see each other again. To listen to each other again. To make progress, we must stop treating our opponents as our enemy. We are not enemies. We are Americans.”
But, then, those are just words, aren’t they? Words that are useless without the action that I think you are too blinded and consumed by your own hatred to undertake.
Nah, I’m probably just another one of those ‘fucking morons’. Peace out, man. Best of luck to you.
I’m a little floored by your comment and understand that I’ve touched a nerve, but I think the points you’re making are without merit:
The Mueller report found that the Russian government “interfered in the 2016 presidential election in sweeping and systematic fashion” and “violated U.S. criminal law.” Right off the bat you’re rolling out nonsense that has no basis in fact.
I feel comfortable calling 70 million people “fucking morons” because if anyone has paid even a little attention to the last four years, if their solution to fix this is voting for Trump again, then they fall into one of two categories: they’re either conned or evil. If they’re still conned by Trump, then I don’t know what to say. By evil, I don’t mean that they’re necessarily rubbing their hands together at the prospect of ruining peoples lives, although the “he’s [Trump] not hurting the people he needs to be” crowd does exist. When I say evil I mean the people who voted for Trump that may not like much of what he’s done, but it’s convenient for their bank accounts. When someone makes the choice of money over human rights, no matter how good they otherwise may be, they are evil.
And all those groups of people voted for Biden as well, in fact, even more of them did. If you’re trying to make some kind of call to the amazing diversity of the Republican Party, I’ll reference the exit polls that I posted elsewhere in this thread.
Biden won the following demographics:
Female
18-29
30-44
Black
Latino
Asian
Other Non-White
LGBT
Total Family Income Under $50k
Total Family Income Under $100k
Liberals
Independents
Cities
Suburbs
White College Graduates
Non-White College Graduates
Non-White Non-College Graduates
Trump won:
Male
White
45-64 (by 1% point mind you)
65+
Evangelical Christian
Total Family Income Over $100k
Veterans
Conservatives
Rural
White Non-College Graduate
I’m pretty sure the data here speaks for itself, your appeal to how diverse Trump support is is not based in reality.
While yes, they voted for someone I don’t like and that is the cause of my displeasure. Instead of just proclaiming that I don’t like him, why not review why I don’t like him? I don’t like him because he has gutted the state department, ruined US relations with our allies, brags about sexual assault, broke the emoluments clause, proclaims to hire the “best people” but his administration is a revolving door where a non-insignificant portion of his staffers end up in jail, threatens his political opponents with jail, his FCC rolled back net neutrality, his tax plan was massively in favor of the rich in both the short and long term but for middle class and poor households their taxes go up starting in 2021, policies of family separation, claiming that he wouldn’t have time to play golf but plays golf at a faster rate than any president in history, the constant lying, the constant calls that everything is rigged, the constant attempts to undermine democracy… that’s just a fraction of the reasons.
But really, if I had to pick something that I hate the most, it’s that he has brought out the worst in America. Minorities are arrested for protesting, while armed Whites are breaking into State Capitols and being let go without so much as a slap on the wrist. “Unite the Right” rallies that use promotional material with more than just a coincidental similarity to Nazi imagery are terrifying. There is sizeable amount of people in this country who are completely under the spell of this demagogue. They claim to love the US Constitution, but are perfectly willing to rip it up if it means their cult of Trump can continue.
Your use of Biden’s words here is comical given how Trump and Company behaves, but let’s tackle that too. I see calling people “fucking morons” as putting away harsh rhetoric when compared to Trump retweeting things like “The only good democrat is a dead democrat”. I do see you and have listened to your words. I do not see you as my enemy, but as someone who has been conned by Trump.
I appreciate your former readership and wish you the best.
Just asking for your thoughts – if Trump’s a racist, why are there POC that support him?
Just a regular American Independent here who strives to study both sides.
While I can’t speak to specific individuals who voted for Trump, I will throw myself upon the mercy of the data.
CNN Exit Polls: PoC went Biden 72%
NYT Exit Polls:
African American Men 80% Biden
African American Women 91% Biden
Latino Men 61% Biden
Latino Women 70% Biden
All other non-white races 60% Biden
NBC Exit Polls:
African American 87% Biden
Hispanic/Latino 66% Biden
Asian 63% Biden
Other non-white 58% Biden
Let’s throw Fox’s exit polls in there too:
African American 90% Biden
Latino or Hispanic 63% Biden
Other non-white 58% Biden
It’s pretty clear that most people who are paying attention know Trump’s history of racism and voted as such.
If someone, PoC or otherwise, thinks Trump isn’t a racist that doesn’t make it so.
At a guess? Money/power/ignorance.
You are a lot smarter than another webcomic artist who also was posting about Biden’s victory, so I’ll ask here. I understand that Trump is narrow minded and said some stupid things, but I never got to see him do anything that actually went against minorities. Do you have a list I can read?
I feel I should add from a non-american position:
I see a LOT of evidence about Trump lying and actively being bad for your country. He lied about Covid being a thing, he knew from the hand-over from Obama that there were policies and procedures in place to handle something like that, and he defunded them, then tried to pretend that it was best for everyone if they “just ignored” the silly little “flu”.
I saw people become openly ok with saying that it’s fine that unarmed black men are gunned down without the police being held accountable. Not that police should be persecuted or witch-hunted, HELD. ACCOUNTABLE. By a non-affiliated group, to ensure they were working for all society… and I saw people start saying anyone who advocated for that was a communist and not a patriot and other things to horrible to describe.
Trump did not make america this, but he sure did amplify it, and I see it like you ditching an abusive partner. Some part of you may have loved him, but the rest of you know that he only made life worse and you have to rebuild on your own.
