Corpse Run 1,033.5: Oh my god
So the plan was this:
- 1/30 – Sign the lease and move a few things
- 1/31 – Go back to Brooklyn and pack
- 2/1 – Do a couple of trips back and forth to new apartment
- 2/2 – Do a couple more
- 2/3 – Do even more
- 2/4 – Do a morning trip from Brooklyn, then pick up rental van, then get the big items
- 2/5 – Victoria and I grab old couch
There would theoretically be a little more to do, but everything was intended to get moved all this past week, here’s what happened instead:
- 1/30 – Signed the lease and moved a few things
- 1/31 – Went back to Brooklyn and packed (blizzard begins)
- 2/1 – Blizzard, can’t go anywhere so I just pack some stuff
- 2/2 – Still can’t go anywhere so I pack more
- 2/3 – Made two trips back and forth (takes a few hours to complete each round of packing car, driving, unpacking, and driving back)
- 2/4 – Tire explodes on the way to NJ, call AAA, get donut put on, get to NJ, unpack, bang my head against the wall. Reschedule van rental to Monday, 2/8 – Tuesday, 2/9. Use mattress plastic wrap as shower curtain.
- 2/5 – Spend six hours at a car repair shop since I didn’t have an appointment, spend over $1,000 fixing the car.
- 2/6 – Build some furniture
- 2/7 – MORE SNOW. The rental place is closed but I’m going to reschedule the van rental again. Built more furniture.
This… has gone not to plan.
Initially I said the next comic would be up today, but fate seems to have pistol whipped me in the face sooooooooo…
…hopefully I can get a comic up by like Friday.
Oh man, I hope your luck improves! I’ve been looking into moving too and I can’t imagine having to do it in this weather.
Ouch! This is why my wife and I made sure we had a full month to move. Then again, maybe the blizzard is caused by your move!
This hits WAY too damn close to home. This was basically my moving experience a month ago
not moving hours away, but we had the joy of the movers we scheduled not turning up, and not even telling us they weren’t gonna be there
yours I think is worse though, because DAMN
