Corpse Run 1,137: Spared no expense
So… yeah. There’s been this crackly sound coming from my mic for like a month or so and I literally tired every solution in the world (including a couple of new microphones) before checking the wiring under my desk.
In fairness to myself, there was no busted cable or loose connection…
…but also in fairness I redid some of the cabling when I updated my graphics card and like a moron ran a USB cable to my hub where my mixer is plugged in to one of the outlets on my monitor, and not in the daisy-chain way to get the monitors ports running to my computer, but the out on the monitor to the USB-B in on the hub. Sooooooooooo it was getting dirty power and causing a buzz I guess. The moment I set things to “not stupid” mode everything is fine again…
…other than the fact that I needed to return a bunch of stuff.
SMART
Having to go through the hassle of returning stuff because it’s not good is one of several reasons I tend to be VERY hesitant about buying stuff online.
I managed to actually fix my cable wiring a bit! It’s pretty decent. Now I just need to clean my desk and make my new case
TIL ‘dirty power’.. Yay!
My IT self hurts
when in doubt, go the path of least resistance and plug it directly into the source.
