END LIVESTREAM UPDATE!
I mentioned last week that I finally got around to replacing my 8 year old laptop, and after playing around with the new computer for a few days, I feel pretty confident in saying that it was a good decision.
Here are some wonderful fun facts about my old Dell:
- Boot Time: 10-15 minutes
- Battery died in 2010, needs to be plugged in at all times.
- 60GB HDD, had to constantly remove software to make space for new programs
- Screen – covered with marks from squishing gnats on it
- Keyboard – every other key was either loose, or would stick in when pressed
- Optical drive tray – would randomly pop out, and when pushed back in had a 30% chance of blue screening the computer
- All around mess
That said, it’s with a heavy heart that I retire it. For eight years, the thing was an absolute trooper for me. It was my college computer.
We’ve been through some stuff together.
…but the new computer is seriously a dream.
It boots up in five seconds. Five seconds. I’m used to waiting ten minutes, so this thing may as well be magic as far as I’m concerned.
Awesome though it may be, I’m really really really not a fan of the fact that there’s no built in cover for the webcam. The strip above isn’t an exaggeration; after running the initial setup, I took a little post-it type note thing and hung it over the camera:
Thing of beauty, right there.
Sure, if some crazy hacker/government/what-have-you tried to view me through the camera, there wouldn’t be much to see; I’m a pretty boring guy… but it’s… weird constantly having a camera in your face.
One of the negative aspects of future technology…
…defeated by a strip of paper.
The best way to cover up cameras like that (at least, the best way I’ve found) is with a Band-aid. Since the adhesive isn’t directly touching the camera, you don’t have to worry about messing it up over the long term.
They can still… hear… you…
(which is much more frightening if you ask me).

Old slowly falling apart portable computers, now with no travel range what so ever.

What if you’ve only covered up the camera they wanted you to know about?
…His……his hat has holes for his eyebrows?
Hey guys! Been a while. Finally done with a whole bunch of work piled on at the last second…….. It was rough :/. Anyways, I will be able to be at the stream Friday 😀
As much as I hate having a camera facing me at any time, even when looking at my phone… stupid front facing camera… I don’t mind if anyone ever listens in, like, what are they gonna hear, me typing, me talking about games… I’m a pretty boring person xD
