Corpse Run 308: Ingenuity
Quick shoutout to Kaynil, who posted in the (mostly dead) forum this week! Maybe folks might start chatting it up again!
One of the first nights of our Skyward Sword playthrough (which is still going on at the moment), we were confronted with the puzzle shown above.
Actually, that’s a bit inaccurate; I was confronted with the puzzle, Rich had played SS before. Anyways, the moment I needed to cross the quicksand, I immediately went into the inventory fully expecting to combine the Gust Bellows and Sailcloth.
It was the most obvious way to cross the distance, and I was totally flabbergasted when item combining wasn’t an option.
I mean, come on, the Gust Bellows’ own description states that it never runs out of air, and it’s capable of pushing some pretty heavy stuff around… why can’t Link use this as a means of flying when combined with the Sailcloth?
I suppose it would make dungeons way too easy; you could just fly over most enemies and obstacles…
Link probably wouldn’t even need the bird anymore. Heck, Link should visit the armor upgrade guy, maybe he could fashion a set of wings for him to use. Imagine a flying Link… Ganon would have no idea what hit him.
In other news, the bathroom sink is still clogged, so I’ve been using the bathtub faucet to wash hands/brush teeth. At first it seems kind of weird, but really it’s the same thing as using the sink.
Jackie and I really know how to live the luxurious life.
Because Trollscience. I mean, because the same reason that you can not propel a sailboat with an electric fan that sits inside the boat.
You could, however, use the Gust Bellows as a rocket-like propulsion (aiming downwards, like in pilotwings). Link could attach it to his back instead of the shield, and… voilà! a Rocketeer Link!
I hope they use that idea for a steampunk TLoZ…
You realize, of course, that the reason you cannot propel a boat like that is the electric fan is not powerful enuf?
Put enuf power into it, and it will move the boat. Swamp skimmers work on this same principle. The fan is larger, and is powered by a gas engine.
That fan is pointed the other way. It’s pushing the boat, not a sail. The sailcloth and bellows combo doesn’t work for any size of cloth because all the force up on rhe sailcloth and link is counteracted by the force pushing down from holding the bellows
Dude…that’s brilliant!
Hooray, my posts won’t be the last ones anymore!
No idea what hit him……hmm…..yeah, a flying Link would be almost as surprising as being hit by a tortoise, falling at speed.
I wanted to say something funny, but it’s 3:42 AM. Vorbis, karma at its finest.
I justed wanted to say I am very dissapointed there is no live stream today. It’s 3:48 AM, I’m sitting here with macaroni and cheese, it’s the second time I managed to stay up this late and then I discover THERE IS NO STREAM. Don’t worry though, I had to stay up this late so it’s not as if I missed my sleep for nothing.
I had another engagement tonight that kept me from having the stream, sorry about that!
In regards to your other comment above this one, SMALL GODS!! Seriously, SG is by and large my favorite book of all time =P
Was hoping someone would get it, and I got two! It’s probably my 2nd or 3rd favorite Discworld novel. Rivaled only by Witches Abroad and Thief of Time.
I recently bought Feet of Clay and Hogfather. I’m almost halfway through…
The entire Discworld series I mean.
Know what you did Alex. I just spend some 3,5 hours on your forum because you said it was dead and I felt bad for you. It is now 5:30 AM. I have class at 11:00 AM. Please make sure my time wasn’t wasted.
(But seriously, I’ll try to become active on your forum. It seems like there are some really interesting people there.)
You cannot move a boat by pointing a fan at a sail. You can however, move a boat by pointing a fan in the opposite direction of intended travel (assuming of course the fan is big enough). The same principal makes this idea nearly impossible.
