Corpse Run 412: Our teeth and ambitions are bared
LIVESTREAM UPDATE:
The next livestream will be this Friday, May 2nd at 7pm est! You’ll make suggestions! I’ll doodle them! Whoa! Afterwards, we’ll continue playing Final Fantasy 8!
I think we’ll try what we did last week, doing the doodling portion on my livestream channel, and then playing FF8 on my twitch account.
With that in mind, you can watch the stream here or here, and once the doodle is done, we’ll play games here.
See you then!
END LIVESTREAM UPDATE!
Bit of a shout out to the twitch viewers with this one!
This might sound crazy, but I think VIII might be surpassing IX as my favorite in the series. Sure, the story is silly, but the Junction System is just so adorably breakable that it’s impossible not to love.
One of the neat things in FF8 is that limit breaks are not tied to any meter; your ability to perform them is entirely related to your HP. The lower your HP, the more likely you’ll be allowed to execute one, and then do tons more one after another…
…which leads to events like the comic above. There have been a number of times in this run where my characters were too healthy, so I had them beat the heck out of themselves.
In one particularly great case, Squall (who had 100 sleeps junctioned to status attack) slashed himself and immediately fell asleep.
We’re the greatest mercenary group in the history of war.
In other news, Jackie and I are ditching Time Warner for RCN. I don’t think RCN is going to be amazingly better (although the new service is much faster and cheaper than TW), but we’ve had so many horrible customer service experiences with TW over the last year that it was time to make a change.
Fortunately there was another provider in our area!
Hopefully the rainstorm that’s pounding outside right now doesn’t keep our Thursday morning appointment from happening.
I require internet.
“Remember what *Insert mentor here* said guys, in war, the most important thing to do is bleed out.”
Sounds like another motivational poster =P
Best.
You’re the best!
Junction 100 Deaths to Attack. 50% chance of instant kill. I had Zell with Cover setup, Counter, and that. During most basic fights he would take a hit and immediatly kill the target. It was hilarious.
Also, find the spell Aura (there are 2 islands you can get it at). It gives instant limit breaks no matter what. Like, instant REPEATED limit breaks. Its how I beat the game. Summon Cerebus, so everyone got triple, and then cast Aura. Then spam limit breaks.
Normally I’d absolutely have death junctioned to status attack, but I’m trying to do a low level run this time around. When we aren’t carding enemies to avoid exp, we’re using Diablos’ Enc Half/None abilities to totally avoid fights in the first place.
There have been a number of bosses that we’ve one shotted so far, it’s the perfect silly fun!
FF9 is even more broken. You can be killing level 60 grand dragons on disc 1 or 2 if you buy the right item and get supremely over-leveled insanely fast. Also has a better story. And characters who I don’t want to kick in the head routinely for being two dimensional…
Definitely with you on the story! Richard is probably bored to tears of my constantly saying this every time the conversation comes up, but FF9 has the most complete, believable world of all the FF games I’ve played.
…and Kuja is the best villain, the perfect mix of power, motivation, and self doubt.
Have you ever played Final Fantasy 6. Kefka is (in my opinion) the greatest villain in the series or possibly even rpgs in general. Great story and so many characters/party variety. Not to mention a playable moogle.
