Corpse Run 1,142: Ugggg
I’m not like, mentally crashing or anything, but I have been feeling really burnt out when it comes to playing games. It feels like I never really play anything new and when I am playing something my mind kind of wanders and I feel like I’m playing stuff “cause playing games is something I like so if I just keep playing I’m officially having fun”.
Ruts! Get stuck in one!
On the toe front, I genuinely do have what appears to be an ingrown toenail for the first time ever and while it’s been painful, this morning was the first day where it was actually painful to walk. So I’m going to keep poking and prodding at that in an attempt to do… something.
I’m not sure doing that is helping…
…oww…
…my toe.
Sometimes you have to do something thats long term for you. Not a spend your time seeking small stimulations task. That said some people do play games for work. People like Yahtzee Croshaw, the penny arcade lads and many a youtuber. If its a job or not is up to you of course but all I can say is when your not enjoying it is a good time to stop and consider what you want.
This isn’t actually that unusual. I, and a lot of the other gamers I know, get sort of burnt out. Sometimes, it’s typical burnouts you get with any hobby. And the easiest thing to do is do another hobby for awhile and then come back to it.
The more insidious form, though, actually comes from the STRESS of trying to find time to game. You get busy and frustrated that you can’t find the time to do something you enjoy….and then when you DO manage it, one of two things happen. Either you’re so stressed about what you should be doing instead that you can’t enjoy it…or, almost worst, you feel like, with all the time and effort you made to squeeze time to play…you HAVE to enjoy it or it was all a waste. And that makes it a chore. ‘Oh, I’m doing my 1 hour of entertainment that I scheduled so my brain makes happy chemicals.’ Just so happens to be the chore.
On the ingrown nail front, Unfortunately there is little you can do yourself. I had to go get surgery for mine.
Yeah, I got a toe that flairs up occassionally. It’s just a fact of life.
I’m saying this like I’m older than you and passing down wisdom when I’m pretty sure you have me beat by at least 2 years.
